SEALIONS PREPARE FOR CONSECUTIVE MATCHES THIS WEEKEND

The San Diego WFC SeaLions play twice on the road this weekend against division leaders in week 3 of the Women's Premier Soccer League season. The SeaLions head into the weekend in third place with six points in the five-team San Diego Division to meet LA Galaxy San Diego (2-0-1, 7) on Saturday, 5:00 p.m., and the San Diego Surf (3-0-1, 10) on Sunday, 4:00 p.m.

San Diego WFC will be tested this weekend and can make a big statement if they can earn the full six points over the two teams who will be challenging for the division title all season long. If the SeaLions do not earn any points, they will have put themselves in a deep hole with only four games remaining in the season.

Four different players have tallied markers for the SeaLions. Kiera Bocchino scored the lone goal in the season opener, while Cassie Callahan, Rosie Tantillo-Colon and Cori Deason found the back of the net last Saturday. Goalkeeper Maria Andreyev has started both games and has a 2-0-0 record with a 0.00 GAA.

LA Galaxy SD has a +4 goal differential (7 GF -3 GA) and is coming off a 1-1 draw with the Surf. They feature a balanced offensive attack and are backstopped by goalkeeper Avrie Fox (2-0-1, 0.98).

The Surf has been an offensive machine by scoring 16 goals in their four contests. Molly Myers (6 goals) and Brooke Wilson (4) pace the Surf offense. Savannah Madden (3-0-1, 1.96) has been solid in goal.
