The San Diego WFC SeaLions allowed a season-high five goals in their 5-3 regular season finale defeat to the San Diego Surf. The SeaLions finished with a mark of 7-1-0 and 21 points and will now focus on their upcoming Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) home playoff match against Albuquerque FC on Saturday, July 6, 3:00 p.m. at Cathedral Catholic's Manchester Stadium.
The Surf scored early (6') and late (39') in the first half for a 2-0 halftime lead. Six minutes after the intermission, the SeaLions cut the deficit in half on a goal by Andrea Duke assisted by Leigh Ann Brown. San Diego WFC, who managed a few promising offensive attacks in the second half, was always chasing the game and never was able to level the contest.
In the 64th minute, the Surf used a counter-attack goal to extended their lead to 3-1. Rosie Tantillo-Colon's goal gave the SeaLions hope in the 79th minute, but within the next nine minutes, the Surf had another two-goal advantage. San Diego WFC scored in the 91st minute on Tantillo-Colon's brace goal.
